Description |
Nototropis falcatus (Metzger, 1871) English: Benthic amphipod, taken with Leica DFC 490 camera mounted on a Leica M205C binocular microscope. Pereiopod 3 is extremely large with a long and robust merus, a short carpus and a strong and slightly curved propodus with an enormous falciform dactylus. The 12 segmented flagellum is one of the features distinguishing this species from the similar Atylus swammerdami. Collected in 2010 on the S2 dredge disposal site off Zeebrugge in the Belgian part of the North Sea 2010.
Length = ~4.5 mm Focus stacking of 35 pictures. Français : Amphipode benthique, longueur totale : 4,5 mm. Animal prélevé sur le plateau continental belge. Photo prise avec un appareil DFC 490 (Leica) monté sur une loupe binoculaire Leica M205C. Le péréiopode 3 est extrêmement grand avec un merus long et robuste, un carpus court, et un propodus fort et légèrement recourbé, doté d'un dactylus énorme et falciforme. L'espèce se distingue de Atylus swammerdami par un flagelle comprenant 12 segments. Individu collecté en 2010 sur le site S2 de dépôt des boues de dragages du port de Zeebruge sur le plateau continental belge en mer du nord. |
