English: Lever jacks, the oldest and simplest form of lifting jack. They have two limitations in use, and so are rarely seen past the age of wooden carts. They have limited mechanical advantage, so can only lift a light load. Also they do not provide any locking, so the weight of the load always has to be supported by the operator.
